  5. Report Seing Muse in Stockholm in 2003, I can mention one main difference between Muse 2003 and Muse 2007, besides the fact that the fan base has grown since 2003 and that this time around, the arena where they played was a bigger one. The scenography in 2003 was a lot simpler than it is now. It's the music that counts in the end, but the visual show means a lot too for the whole experience, and a lot seem to have happened in these last four years. Yesterday the stage and the light show completely blew me away. Enough said about that. As for the music... I have had small doubts about how the new songs would work live, specially one as "Supermassive Black Hole". But after last night, there is not a doubt left in my mind. Believe it or not, I felt like dancing! (I look really silly when I do, so I'm trying to avoid it). The new songs were simply wonderful live. "Starlight" was suddnely a much better song than I at first had experienced. It's not a song to jump around to, but it was definitely chilling (in a good way of course) to hear and be one of all those people that sang along to the line "I just wanted to hold you in my arms". One thing I didn't expect in this arena was a good sound quality. I have been at quite a few concerts there, and I felt that Hovet isn't the best arena for concerts. Out of all the bands I've seen there, only Nine Inch Nails were able to adjust the sound close to perfection, but it was still less good as the sound on their previous two shows in Sweden. So I must admit, I was a bit surprised that Muse were able to create such a good sound in there. In fact, the sound was terrific. The bass didn't drown out anything else, the drums weren't too loud, the guitar was loud enough and very clear, the synths and pianos were not obscured by all the other instruments in the more powerful songs. Simply wonderful. One surprise came already in the beginning. I expected "Knights of Cydonia" to be played towards the end of the show, but it was the opening song. It definitely set the bar for the whole show with all the energy that came out of the stage. It was simply incredible. As the words "No one's gonna take me alive" etc flew on the three screens towards the crowd, the energy grew more and more. When finally the whole band burst into the last part of the song, the crowd was in extasy. And that continued throughout the show, with "Time is Running Out", "Hysteria", "Map of the Problematique", "Plug In Baby"... Also, surprisingly "Soldier's Poem" was beautiful live; great atmosphere was created in the crowd. It sort of feels like words aren't enough to describe the energy and the feelings experienced at the show. Muse are really giving everything that one might ask: great, creative music played by incredibly talented musicians, and a great show all together. As the review in one of the swedish newspapers today simply said: PERFECT! (http://www.expressen.se/noje/musik/1.892822/perfekt) It really was perfect to all of us that were at the show. At least I know that I am greatful for such a wonderful and inspiring experience. The only negative thing that I could think of is the fact that 16 songs made up only an hour and a half. It felt that an hour and a half just wasn't enough for the sences to absorbe it all and let it sink in. Time just flew by, and in the end we were left standing there with lights in our eyes, the great memories and smiles on our faces.
