  1. Report I saw them 3 years before this gig and thought I had dreamt the whole thing, it just blew my mind! So I went again and still couldn't believe that a band could be better than their CDs!. Moleva 917 days ago
  2. Report I listen to Muse most days so after buying tix to this gig I thought I'd take a break from their music in the lead up to the show...that didn't happen. I saw them on the Sunday at the Melb BDO & walked away grinning like a little kid and stayed like that for a long while, THE BEST set I've ever seen. Then I saw them at this gig and it was brilliant, I can't believe the energy & accuracy they produce live. It's already been said but they've gotta be the best band I know of by a loong way. Hey ps. I've just started learning the bass guitar, so I plan to nail the Hysteria riff by tomorrow afternoon... wish me luck. Cheers, guys, catch you next time. mtthwgrdnr 1901 days ago
  3. Report A mate of mine went to the opening show and said it "food doesn't taste good anymore". When I went into Festival Hall myself, I was pleased to see the Giant Slinkies, the see-through drum kit and at least 4 full rows of 10grand rotating lights. The opening act were so weird, and I never caught their name because the dude slurred it. All I can remember is "An Eye for a Brow, a Tooth for a Pick" and "DIE!!!". When Muse came on stage, everyone got excited, but some tosser said to "sit down or you'll ruin it for everyone". So everyone ended up sitting down for the first 5 songs or so, and I was forced to headbang in my chair. The setlist that night was amazing, I could never imagine Muse opening with Knights and ending with Take a Bow, and I was hoping they'd play some old classics. II was blown away when Matt got out the 7 string and started playing Citizen Erased. I was quite surprised when Matt grabbed out an acoustic guitar for City of Delusion, and I wondered why when I tried to distort an acoustic it never worked, while it worked perfectly for Matt. Another surprise was hearing Sunburn, and Apocalypse Please on an Upright Piano, rather than the Kawai Piano Matt has used before. The Foot Shuffle Matt did in Time is Running Out was cool, despite me only being able to see some of it, because of all the flashing "seizure" lights. The intro to Plug in Baby was amazing, I had no idea the Stab Control on the Fuzz Factory could reach that high a frequency that everyone around me wrenched in pain as I stood there loving it. Muse left the stage, and were encored back on, and started playing Soldiers Poem. Despite note really liking the song at all, it was great. Chris got us all clapping along to Starlight, and that was a great experience. What was even greater than that was when they played Stockholm Syndrome. As soon as me and a friend heard the intro, we yelled at each other and started headbanging. Muse then left the stage again. I knew they'd have to play Knights of Cydonia, but the suspense was killing me, and this other guy behind me that was yelling "Knights of Cydonia" When they finally came back on stage, I was delighted to hear Knights of Cydonia, but this time it was much heavier, because there was no trumpet, and because it was blaring at 115db or so. Knights was such a great experience, to me, it is the "musical version of an orgasm", at which the build up was Dom hitting the snare drum, and the explosion when Muse started playing the Knights of Cydonia ending riff. All in all, a fantastic night, despite the tosser at the start. It was great to experience the CO2 machines, the Slinkies, the Giant Balloons, the Flashing Seizure light and the Screechy noises all for myself. Only a couple days after the performance did I get dissapointed that they didn't play Bliss or Assasin, but that was equalled by Muse playing Citizen Erased and Sunburn. Please come back again Muse :) winno 1912 days ago
  4. Report i knew noone going to this show. I only knew the 3 men on stage. after having an exciting day, or a pathetic one with extreme rewards (such as meeting matt and dom) i forgot to eat and had to hav an overpriced mars bar for dinner... the crowd for this show was slower to assemble... less people were sitting wanting to scramble for barricade this time, i know i wasnt, although i ended up at teh barricade far left of the stage away from the moshing crowd. this muse show had a very different setlist to the 2 previous melbourne shows. Old favourites like bliss and new born were dissapointingly cut but when you think about it, the setlist this night had no space for them. It was perfectly organised, the songs flowed, it made sense. the moments that made my night was about 4 songs city of delusion, sunburn (piano version!!!!), apocalypse please and citizen erased. There is something that gets me when matt gets behind that piano and i just want to cry. Take a bow and knights of cydonia were switched as opening and closing songs, which seemed as easy to do as it had been the opposite way the night before. This would have to be one fo the best muse shows i've been to. This tour muse really have stepped it up and i cant wait for them to be recognised everywhere as the best live band... because if you've seen them they are so much more than best Bronnie 1914 days ago
